Stopped Breath is practiced in ten simple steps to quickly build up vast amounts of vital energy. Called Daliang Cun Qi Fa (literally translated “Amassing Chi”), the English name derives from the technique. This technique is one of the most efficient methods in developing the chi lifeforce.
Although not recommended, even students who have no background in chi kung/qigong training can learn from from these simple instructions.
This technique is not for those who have not reached an advanced level of qigong meditation, as there are inherent dangers. However, if you are truly ready for this level of training, then it will be well worth it.
Before you attempt this exercise, you should fulfill each of these conditions outlined here below:
- You have had sufficient training in chi kung/qigong that you can control your own neidan chi energy confidently and with ease. This is extremely important, since insufficient control can result in injury to yourself. I am not exaggerating: If you are not sure that you are sufficiently advanced enough to control your energy, but are still determined to learn this technique, you do this at your own risk. However, I would recommend that at least you have a qualified instructor to aid you if you get into trouble. At the very least, this person should know when you are overwhelmed or no longer in control, how to control your energy with his/her own, and how to release the accumulated chi from your body.
This person should monitor you every time you practice the technique until you have mastered it and are confident you have control of your energy.
- Stopped Breath Qigong involves breath control, so you should at least know how to do diaphragmatic breathing. Please review over the free lesson on Abdominal Breathing before you do anything else.
- This technique also requires that you be sitting down. You should review over the free lessons on sitting postures for your next step before learning Duan Qi Qigong.
- You should also be dressed in loose comfortable clothing. Even if you have practiced many years of qigong/chi kung, you should read over the suggestions I make on making the most of qigong/chi kung.
- Once you access the instructions, please do not share the information with anyone else not qualified to learn this course. That also includes other students who have not paid for this course.
- And finally, please read the Disclaimer. Ultimately, you and no one else is responsible for your actions. If you intend to practice this and any other exercise offered on this website, you do so with the full awareness of the potential risks involved.
Stay well.
